Internal medicine physician (GP)

Consults, evaluates, diagnoses and treats a broad scope of illnesses both chronic and acute, as well as caring for your total body wellness and disease prevention. An internist deals with health disorders related to your lungs, heart, gastrointestinal tract, endocrine system, joints and other internal organs. In order to make the correct diagnosis, the doctor may need to order necessary laboratory or instrumental investigations or an echoscopy. If necessary, the physician will refer you to a specialist for further consultation and examination.

Refer to an internal medicine doctor if you have:

  • Cold, bronchitis or pneumonia
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome)
  • Digestive problems
  • Spine and back pain
  • Joint problems
  • Renal problems
  • Neurological problems
  • Existing or suspected anaemia
  • Metabolic problems
  • Other problems related to your general health.

You can refer to the internal medicine doctor (GP) in all cases where there is possible conservative treatment and where there is no need for surgery.
