Endoscopy (Gastroscopy, Proctoscopy, Colonoscopy) – without queues at a great price!
Endoscopy – a procedure during which the internal lining of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum and colon mucosa is observed. In the case of pathological changes (signs of inflammation, ulcers, polyps, tumours), a biopsy (mucosal pieces) will be taken.
The endoscopic examinations available at Sandyford Healthcare Medical&Dental:
- Gastroscopy – examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. Very informative in the diagnosis of stomach and duodenal ulcers (ulcers, polyps, tumours) and oesophageal diseases (oesophageal erosion, gastroesophageal reflux disease). A biopsy can be taken during gastroscopy, also bleeding can be stopped from a stomach ulcer or from polyp removal.
- Rectoscopy – endoscopic examination of the rectum.
- Colonoscopy – endoscopic examination of the colon, during which a biopsy can be taken. This is one of the main ways to detect colon cancer.
In compliance with the patient’s state and his/her request, sedation (prescription of sedative medicine) can be applied during all the endoscopic examinations (except for rectoscopy).
